SW wind with enough south to put the big pond in play at Bradford, etc... Else lots of inland lake opportunities. We may hit Windybago along with our back yard if too much west. Saturday, Sunday, Monday AND Tuesday in play.
For newer people, after Labor Day many places like Pike, Whitewater, etc... the public beaches put away swim area restrictions and open up even more opportunities. Welcome to the beginning of the windy season (I hope...)!
Will be at Bradford this afternoon. Looks like a nice SE setting up. Probably park on north end to avoid beach traffic.
@Jeff Jacobs I will be down around 5-5.30pm. Hopefully wind will hold out.
I should be wrapping up around then...keep an eye out for you.
Yep, Bradford looks to be building. I should be at the north end by 2pm
2pm! No one work around here! ;-)
😁
Good day at Bradford. Really strong, nice.on the inside too.
Good day in back yard, wind light until after 3, but filled in nicely for a couple hours of wingfoiling. Save some energy for tomorrow, looking even better!
Anyone go to Big M today?
Likely head there tomorrow after lunch if forecast holds
Monday is looking like Sheboygan.
Bonnie & I heading out in our back yard soon (Sunday), Muskego wind WSW 10-20 right now and NOAA has it building. Swamp/Boxhorn/LittleHat should work well. Hoping for a couple sessions Wingfoiling today, boat traffic will make a kite worse than challenging, likely to windsurf a bit then too. Wind this week very welcome!!!
If anyone heads to Big M and it is kiteable, please post. I am reluctant to make the drive when wind report at airport is only 14 mph.
I was there 30min ago to scope it out, its definitely kiteable. I didn't launch because I was to sketched out.. will go again another time if there's others around to help launch.
At Boxhorn. Wind is alright. I am trying a 10m but would advise to go bigger if you have it. With all the trees in full growth I think drift launch in main channel is only launch option.
Best of luck to any that join.
Back yard was nice, 20 miles in a little over 2 hours, a bit spent. Maybe another session later, wind gusts in Muskego to 25, but all too many moments in the 8-11 range to make it a great day. And in my back yard methinks most of the boating activity in the area took place right in front of me. After this weekend the summer boaters should go back into hibernation...
Big M was alright. Like JV described. The gusts were nice but the lulls were light.
Still had some big boosts and were 5 of us out there. Good day.
Sheboygan tomorrow fellas.
What time are you aiming to be at Sheboygan?
Likely around 11. Bringing whole family regardless of wind.
Bonnie and I played in lighter winds in our back yard tiday, Bonnie with a wing and I freestyle windsurfed. Avoided the Labor Day chaos out in the middle of the lake and sandbar. Wonderful day.
So, as this is a new discussion group, I'll take a moment to preach a bit. I love kiting on water and snow, been enjoying it more than 20 years. But there are other wind sports. Been windsurfing 40+ years, and winging since it was invented. Each has its place, as do freestyle, racing and even just baffing. But realize that depending on place and conditions, EACH has its own magic. Try new stuff. Have alternatives. Youtube and local experts are there to teach. Others like myself always willing to lend equipment and help trying something new. Wind sports are 4 seasons, let the stoke overcome you. (Old man slowly moves off pulpit).
Jeff was right -- Bradford was zoo today but I was able to circumvent that by riding the cargo bike down to McKinley beach (still "closed"). I blew up my kite right next to it, got all my gear on and then hoped the fence and set up lines and launched quickly.
Wind was 20-25 with gusts near 30. Only had the 17m with me as the wind meter was saying 17mph when I left home but it worked out trimmed on a small board - hit 10.8m on the woo!
What a great kite weekend - 3 out of 4 days we're pretty solid. I hope you kite lads scored some in Sheboygan.
