  • Looks like east wind showing up Thursday and into the weekend.  I have not been downtown Milwaukee for a month, anyone know how the McKinley beach improvements are coming?  If it gets big (and eventually it will) it would help wingfoiling to get up before shorebreak.  Else SSYC I guess.  BRING IT ON!!

  • @Jeff Vkoeberl Hopefully there is enough breaks in the rain to get out 🤞

  • Mitchell, I'd rather tolerate some rain than miss some wind.  Besides, when on the water I am already wet anyways.  It is lightning or pounding rain that will keep me off the water.  ;)

  • Wind along Milwaukee lakeshore looking great right now, but as Bonnie's broken ankles required surgery it does not look good for me enjoying that over the weekend.  Fortunately for me, my back yard should work for winds expected through Sunday, and I think I could get good water time there while being available for her.  Hope all score, the wind looks very promising.

  • Where would be the best place to launch on this east we will have all weekend? Not sure how comfortable I am kiting with straight onshore wind quite yet but would at least like to get out to watch if others are out.

  • I just stopped at Bradford on my way back from errands. East wind at the time, felt stronger than the meter suggested.

Wind now looks to have shifted to ENE, so might favor SSYC better but wind is usually weaker at that spot too.

I am going to load up and head over to Bradford and see what it's looking like. Not opposed to head to SSYC if Bradford isn't ideal.

  • Went to Bradford and SSYC. Neither was really ON but could have been rideable. Either wind wasn't that strong and/or direction wasn't ideal. Plus with the rain I just figured I'd save getting wet for tomorrow, when the wind actually looks REALLY good. I might hit up Bradford for a breakfast session, we'll see.

  • Probably going to stick to surfing this weekend. Looking like a crazy amount of onshore wind so far.

  • I'll likely check out Bradford...if you can get into the harbor, it should be perfect direction for breakwall.

If you go out be careful with the conditions today. Let me know too and I'll try to match times so we can ride together.

    Jeff

  • East wind is not straight onshore at either Bradford or SSYC.  For Bradford, launch at the north end and ride your first tack southeast.  At South Shore, don't launch at the SSYC beach, go south to the park and walk down the bluff to launch closer to the FBI building.  Ride north from there.  The challenge at Bradford will be the nearly constant shore break.

  • Just rode Bradford this morning from 8-10am. Stafford is right -- shore break was tough, but wind was STRONG! I was on a trimmed 10m with a small board. Another guy (Charlie) from Lake Geneva showed up as I was leaving and was riding a 5m and surf board.

With the amount of power and less-than-ideal direction it was really challenging today, but a ton of fun still. When I was able to boost (not often cos of the breaks) it was easy to get up in the clouds.

Have fun out there people, be safe!

  • No surprise that inland wind crappy compared to what I see on the charts along Lake Michigan, sorry I am missing it.  Hoping for an afternoon session that is better than my morning session, though it looks like the rain may be harder.  NOAA saying there is lightning, but not seeing it in Muskego.

  • Just got a session on a 7m at SSYC

    very messy- gusty and bumpy

    not a lot of fun

  • Afternoon session in back yard better than morning session, except maybe for the putting on cold wet equipment part.   Twenty plus miles on foil is a good enough day, hoping better tomorrow.

  • I didn't make it out today...too much work.

It's happening tomorrow though rain or shine.

  • Inland wind looking a little fuller right now, heading out soon in back yard.  Going to be a shorter session, seems we will be babysitting our great granddaughter mid afternoon, and Bonnie cannot chase her around very well with broken ankles.

  • I'm on my way to SSYC

  • Powerman - hope you scored.  The wind reports look good, sorry I missed it!  Got my licks in today in back yard, a little over 10 miles in modestly better wind than yesterday.  Might as well enjoy the warm water while we can, think things are going to change...

  • SSYC was real nice. Best around noon but still good past 3. Nice day. Big lake is still warm too.
