Looks like good snow finally coming tomorrow, meaning today is a good time to take a look at ice where you mighy kite to note where open/unsafe ice might be. It has been a wierd year with open/bad areas even with otherwise good ice depth. Hoping snow will cover ice well, but given the wind it may leave some open ice and drifts. Finally looking forward to this, be safe guys! Been a while since we have had decent snowkiting conditions!!!
Briefly tried snowkiting this morning, got 5-6 inches of snow yesterday covering lake. However, I wasn't surprised to find snow not really adhered to the ice, so much like riding directly on ice especially turning. Might have had better luck with switchblade, but went out just with snowboard. Short session as I have been sick and don't want to set recovery back - besides Friday night 4 or more inches coming and better wind after that. My sense is that by Sunday snowboard & kite should be a joy and intend to be 100%. Was nice to get under kite finally this winter!
