Friday 12 Jan- Veterans Park

  • Anyone know how much snow there is at Veteran's park?

im planning to give it a shot this afternoon

  • Hey Steve,

Living not far from there, I can assume it's similar to my back yard -- we got ZERO snow on Tuesday, but it did snow a bit yesterday and has been snowing today.

Temp is mild (about 34 now) and snow is wet and heavy. I imagine there might be 3-4 inches at Veterans (I would say 6 inches top) as it's been a mix between snow and sleet/rain all week. Not sure how the wind would affect it with the snow drifts.

Might be worth a try if you have the time. I don't know if I'll make it down there.

Bradford might also be in play too, just saying...

  • Update: veterans a NO GO for snowkiting. Not enough snow.

Took a detour here as I had to head out and there's nowhere near enough snow here. It's actually raining right now here. I can still see grass in some areas.

Bradford is RAGING though. Direction not ideal and may shift to favor SSYC later if you don't mind getting all your gear wet. I've gotta head home for a bit but might brave the big lake after lunch. I'll post up if I head out.

  • Thx Ryan, real bummer. Will be windy as hell inland tomorrow too, but useless slop that is neither snow nor water.

think I will pass on the stinging eyeballs you mentioned at SSYC 😀

  • BTW we have around 18" here in Brookfield, with no sign of slowing down

  • Mitchell park in Brookfield should work tomorrow unless kiddies are using the sledding hill.  I may try there in afternoon, will post up if it works.

  • Part of the problem with some spots right after the snowfall is parking.  I sell all sorts of good fields, but the roads haven't been widenend and I worry about getting plowed in.

  • Not going to make it to check the snow today, 2 of my grandaughters were dealing with car issues and grandpa's nickname is TripleA...  Hope someone scored...

  • I rode Friday in the north fields at Mequon nature preserve. There was about 14" of snow there. The fields work because they are plowed, but the Prairie was not cut or burned so grass was way to tall. You can park at the north lot or across the street at the enterance to the soccer fields. Nothing was plowed but I have 4 wheel drive and really big tires so had no issues at all. Riding was tough. I just kept sinking in snow and would either be edging to hard and stalling or catching a front side edge. I am excited for the cold to bring Pike lake into play and harden the snow a bit.
