  • South wind looking good for Bradford late afternoon.

  • Wind is a bit light on shore. White caps out about 200 yards. Have a few work calls to wrap up then going to try. Feels like hydrofoil only right now.

  • I may head down if the windmeter can get to 17mph. Right now it's only saying 13mph at the wind station at the end of the pier.

  • Headed to foil grant park beach. If wind is weird on the beach I may be convinced to bradford/mckinley

  • No wind at McKinley. The rain killed the wind on shore. It's out there about 150 yards but dead on the beach. Going to hang around for about 30 more.

  • Snuck in a session at about 5:30. Wasn't much wind but foil kite and hydrofoil worked well. Fun day despite wind being wonky.

    Noah, did Grant pan out?

  • I was able to get out for a few rides on the foil. Struggled to keep my 12m nexus up so it was short lived.

In search of single or no strut kite for foiling this summer. Anyone have a UFO they're looking to offload?

  • Thanks Noah.

You ever try a ram air kite? The Soul is a sweet ride. Only kite I ever flew confident in single digit wind speeds. Takes some getting used to from a tube kite.

  • Jeff, how are Soul light air water relaunch skills progressing?  That was always the downside for me...  If not relaunched relatively soon, was a swim to get back.

  • It's decent JV. You have a few minutes for sure before it starts absorbing much water

The big thing is that it relaunches better off the water. In 8 to 10 knots it's almost hopeless to relaunch tube kite. Foil kite is easier.

Occasionally in light, gusty wind you can get a bow tie where the foil somehow spirals on itself. That is rare but does happen and it's unrecoverable on the water.

The biggest downside is launching and landing solo IMO. The 12m is a bear to self land in 15 or greater.

  • Do you still attach a 'brake' like the one on my Chrono?
