Hi, want to go out but looking to make sure I am not the only one out there. : )
Eyeing up south shore tomorrow AM.
Let me know if you go please. Where do you usually go out? Just south of the marina on the beach?
Will do. There isn't much of a beach anymore, launch in the grass and walk through edge of parking lot. Looks like hydrofoil or big kite wind this AM.
One more note Robert. The NE readings at South Shore are going to be higher than what is actually out there on a day like today.Take a look at Atwater Buoy + MCSC (not the gold gap station) and then South Shore. You need to average these to see what the wind is doing.
MCSC is getting clipped big time by the shore line, which is why it's only 10/19 knots (avg/gust). Atwater is not and is at 13/15. South shore is getting a venturi of sorts where it's compressed due to the land shape --- but don't trust the 19/20 reading, its not that strong (maybe in small bands, but not on the whole).
I'd bet SSYC is about 15-17 max right now. For me that'd be a struggle, but possible on 10m and TT. So I'd go 12-14m and TT or 8-10m and hydrofoil. I hope that helps you read the location a bit better. Just eating breakfast now and then will likely take a ride down to see things on site, but i'd bet the forecast above is not far off.
Just got on site. Wind is there but I feel it's going to be weaker. Trying 10m and TT. It's real cold, fog blowing in on shore
I got there just as Jeff was heading in. I've gotten partial to the St Francis launch. Wind was decent with the 14, it warmed up a bit when the sun came out, but the wind started coming down. All in all a nice mellow session and some really smooth waters.
@PowerManJ316 Sorry I missed this. Are you still thinking about Sunday? Looks warmer and better temps.
Also, do you ever set up at bayview park? Nice beach
@Robert Mohr I personally like the bayview beach better, but the wind tends to be lighter right there. I set up a rope on a little cluster of elms right by the stairs. The only issue is if the self launch goes into the shrubs there are thorny black locust sprouts that could do damage. If I can make it work I'll head back there tomorrow.
Hey, LMK if you head out please.
