FRAME

The SURGE Aero frame is constructed using Grilamid TR90 – a virtually indestructible thermoplastic nylon that is lightweight, flexible and incredibly strong. This material absorbs and spreads impact force under stress but returns to its original shape afterwards.

In addition the SURGE Aero frame incorporates overmolded rubber on the inside of the main frame in the bridge area and on the inside of the temples. Where the Surge Aero differs from the Classic Surge is in the temple tips. The Surge Aero dispenses with rubber temple tips and incorporates thin and flexible TR90 material that integrate seamlessly with LiP’s latest FAILSAFE II retention system. This delivers secure, helmet-friendly performance without unnecessary bulk. 

The Surge Aero incorporates a patented Vortex anti-fogging system comprising cuttings in the lenses and venting channels in the upper and lower parts of the frame which encourage airflow through and behind the lenses to improve ventilation and counteract fogging. The Surge Aero also has a revised ‘pantascopic tilt’. This translates to improved ventilation behind the lenses, further reducing the likelihood of lens fogging.

Finally, the new FAILSAFE II leash system completes the frame geometry. This easy to connect leash system is guaranteed to work in all conditions and will ensure that you stay connected to your Surge Aero during a heavy wipeout.

LENSES

Equipped with either VIVIDE, LEVANTÉ or EcLiPse Series lenses, all LiP Sunglasses lenses are designed and tested under rigorous conditions to ensure they meet regulatory standards around the world, including ANSI (United States), EN-ISO (Europe) and AS/NZS (Australia / New Zealand). This testing includes high velocity mass impact testing. 

All lenses (regardless of the Lens Series or function) are guaranteed to filter out harmful UVA and UVB rays. Except for lenses with an anti-fog coating, all lenses have hydrophobic, oleophobic and hard coatings on both front and rear lens surfaces. For lenses that are polarized, the polarization achieved is 98-99% unless stated otherwise.
